An elephant family moving together through the dust of Amboseli at golden hour, a calf shielded at the centre.
Late afternoon in Amboseli, and a family of elephants crossed the dry pan in a loose phalanx, the adults walling off a calf in the middle. The low sun lit the dust they raised and turned the whole scene to amber.
The tusks, the folded ears, the small trunk of the calf reaching out — it is a portrait of a unit that moves and decides as one. Wildlife is a different note for this collection, but the warmth and the dust place it in the same world as the desert work.
