The Crossing
from £20
A monk and a village dog briefly share a covered wooden bridge — a quiet moment in black and white.
Bhutan’s old paths are stitched together by covered wooden bridges — long timber tunnels of posts and beams. A monk in robes was crossing one as a village dog fell into step behind him, the two of them briefly sharing the span.
In black and white the image comes down to line and gesture: the receding rhythm of the bridge timbers, the dark figure of the monk, the small alert shape of the dog. Stripped of colour, it reads as a study of companionship and solitude at once.
Understated and timeless — Bhutan in black and white.
