The Long Shore
from £20
Camels resting on the Essaouira shore as the light fades to peach and rose, the old fort a silhouette on the horizon.
The Atlantic light at Essaouira softens to pastel as the day goes — peach near the horizon, lilac above, the long beach emptying out. A small string of camels had stopped at the waterline, their riders waiting, the old fortress reduced to a far silhouette.
It reads almost as a minimalist painting: broad bands of sand, sea, and sky, with the camels the one dark, human note holding it together. The softness is real — sea haze and last light, not a filter.
Warm, wistful, and easy to live with — a gentler desert than the dunes.
