The Narrows
from £20
A UNESCO fjord at its stillest — sheer walls, mirrored water, and a single figure on the jetty for scale.
Nærøyfjord is the narrowest arm of the Sognefjord — a UNESCO-listed corridor where the walls climb straight out of the water and the morning light arrives late, sliding down the rock in slow beams. This was the first hour of the day, before the boats, when the surface had gone to glass.
The scale only lands when you find the figure in red on the jetty, almost lost against the mountain. That is the whole image: how small a person is here, and how willingly you would stand in their place. The reflection doubles the drama without a single adjustment.
A cool, still counterweight to the desert prints — northern light at its most serene.
