Tales of Wanderlust
Close view of wind-rippled sand running diagonally down a desert dune with hills beyond, Rissani, Morocco

Rissani, Morocco · DEC 2017

Windlines

from £20

Wind-carved ripples running down a Saharan dune, sharp in the foreground and dissolving into haze.

Up close, the Sahara is all line and grain. The wind combs the sand into parallel ripples that run down the face of every dune and reset with the next gust. This one was shot low and tight, the crest cutting the frame on a long diagonal.

The shallow focus is deliberate: the foreground grains stay crisp while the dunes behind melt into warm haze. It reads almost as abstraction — texture and light more than place — which is exactly what lets it settle on a wall.

Quiet, tactile, and warm — the desert at its most pared-back.
