M'Hamid, Morocco · JAN 2018
Moonrise
from £20
A full moon rising over the Sahara at dusk, the sky going pink and violet above a thin line of dunes.
On the edge of the Sahara at M’Hamid, the day does not end so much as cool. The sun drops behind you and the sky ahead turns — pink, then lilac, then a blue you can almost feel — while a full moon lifts over the dunes.
Almost the whole frame is sky. The dunes are reduced to a low, soft horizon, and that is the point: a print about space and quiet rather than spectacle. The colours are exactly as they were — the desert does its own grading at that hour.
Minimal, calm, and a little otherworldly. It holds a wall without raising its voice.
